Is it important for cultures to protect themselves from outside media influence?
Well I think that different culture's can be similar in a way, trying to always protect a different culture from your own can be bad, but that is just my hypothesis. I think that we should allow ourselves to be different, even if it means changing cultures, even if you think that picking up someone else's culture, you may think that we are no longer Canadian. But what I think is that we are born in Canada, and we were raised in Canada therefore we are Canadian, but if we pick up another's culture we are still Canadian, just with different beliefs. I find this topic interesting, but also hard to present and fully express our thoughts on this idea.

Celebrities Today
In the past couple of years there have been a few celebrities with extensive coverage with the media, some examples would have to be Kim Kardashian, Sidney Crosby, Tiger Woods etc. Most of these celebrities have gotten in the media because of gossip, and drama.. Well how else would you be on the news? Anyways, Sidney Crosby is probly already considered an icon to all of Canada, he is on the news because of he is not gonna be able to play for however long he is out, I find it very interesting on how one sports player getting injured, then most of Canada knows about this event. I find it interesting how big media got! I have alot more examples on current celebrities in the news, but there is another question I have to do today!

My last encounters with pop culture
The last encounter's I have had with pop culture, would be watching a movie two days ago called abduction, I always the show TSN everyday. Yesterday, I watched an NHL Game Pittsburgh vs. Toronto, and I noticed all the ads on the side of the boards. There were so many ads for Tim Hortans, Sony, Bell, Coors, etc. Me and my dad were talking about the investments in the ads on the boards, and its about $1200 just to put an ad on the boards. I find it crazy about how much money they put in for just ads. I also listen to music a lot, these are the past encounter's I have had with Pop Culture. What I have learned was that Popular Culture is in everything, it's gonna keep growing and growing. But that is just my thoughts :).
